हम गणतंत्र को बचाएंगे !

हम कागज़ भी दिखाएंगे!!!
हम गणतंत्र को बचाएंगे!!!
जो न हुए फिर भी सही,
तीन यारों से पुष्टि करवाएंगे –
और फिर कागज बनवाएंगे…
हम कागज़ तो दिखाएंगे!!!

तुम गाड़ी-बसें जला दोगे,
तुम दुकानें बंद करा दोगे,
तुम हिंसा भी भड़का दोगे –
हम बापू के हिंदुस्तानी हैं
अहिंसा और परिश्रम से
फिरसे स्वराज बनाएंगे…
हम कागज़ तो दिखाएंगे!!!

तुम यूनिवर्सिटी के बच्चों को
अज्ञान का पाठ पढ़ाओगे।
तुम सिंध की मर्यादा पर
हर रोज़ कालिख लगाओगे।
हम लौहपुरुष सरदार के
पथ पर चलते जायेंगे…
हम कागज़ भी दिखाएंगे!!!
हम गणतंत्र को बचाएंगे!!!

तुम सरकार और सेनाओं को
गालियों से रीसोगे,
तुम पुलिस वालों को बेरहमी से
पत्थरों से पीटोगे –
हम एकता की ढाल बनके
संविधान को बचाएंगे।
हम चाचा नेहरू के उस सपने को
बोस सुभाष सा अमर बनाएंगे…
हम कागज़ भी दिखाएंगे!!!

This poem is in response to Varun Grover’s latest poem “Hum Kagaz nahi Dikhayege”. I have no personal animosity to him or anyone protesting against anything. Through this poem I want to bolster the voice of those people who are true minorities today – the ones who think radical violent protests are of no good, and neither a dictatorship in the name of democracy. I personally feel that any kind of extremism (right or left) is mere foolishness. There is a lots of good and lots of bad following either extreme blindly. We should take up what’s good from both – and that is generally known as ‘Centrist’ approach which is quite extinct these days and moreover frowned upon.
